March 25th will mark the 100 year commemoration of New York’s deadliest workplace accident. In 1911, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory bust into flames due to the lack of safety regulations, poor ventilation, congested work spaces and a carelessly dropped match. As a result, over a hundred young women lost their lives and the private industry of the American factory changed forever.

Triangle Fire from American Experience provides an opportunity discussion, writing, and activities that meet an array of state and Common Core standards.
