Video Lending Library: “The Hurricane of ’38”

For much of New England, the recent hurricane resulted in little damage from wind: it was the rain and resulting floods that caused such devastation. Early warning of the storm saved lives and property. Compare this storm to another — the big hurricane that struck along the east coast in 1938. Folks then had only radio and newspapers to rely on and no advanced warning from satellite technology! Here is a good chance to compare the two storms and see how technology has contributed to our safety. The video, “The Hurricane of ’38” (I.D. 1808),  is on VHS tape and runs 60 minutes.
