This Sunday, we hope you’ll join us for a free sneak peak of Prohibition: the latest film from Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. The event will take place from 2-4pm at the D’Amour Museum of Art (Davis Auditorium) in Springfield.
Immediately following the screening, we hope you’ll stay for a panel discussion about the far-ranging effects of the era of bathtub gin, bootleggers and speak-easies. Panelists include Guy McLain, Director of the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, Kathleen Banks Nutter, Archivist at the Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College, and Daniel Czitrom, Mt. Holyoke Professor of History, to discuss the social upheaval and other unintended consequences of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
