Starting Girls Who Code

We thought you’d have a better context for tomorrow night’s PBS LearningMedia webinar Cultivate Creators through Coding and STEAM with this video from MAKERS as Reshma Saujani discusses how Girls Who Code plans to close the technology and engineering gender gap by teaching 1 million girls by 2020.

MAKERS, a digital and video storytelling platform that aims to be the largest and most dynamic collection of women’s stories ever assembled, brings together well-known figures such as Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Oprah Winfrey, with  trailblazers who need to be known such as Christy Haubegger, the founder of Latina Magazine and Kathrine Switzer, the first women to run the Boston Marathon.

In 2013, MAKERS premiered the documentary, MAKERS: Women Who Made America, telling the story of the modern American women’s movement for the first time on television. At MAKERS.com you can explore the stories of 100 groundbreaking women.
