WGBY is well represented in the 38th annual Boston New England Emmy Nominations announced earlier this week. Diverse, thought-provoking topics in areas such as societal concerns and education reveal our station’s commitment to community, excellence and lifelong learning.
Big Ideas for Little Kids: Teaching Philosophy through Picture Books, nominated in the Education/Schools category, is a WGBY documentary we’ve shared here before. In the following video clip, published in 2013, Thomas E. Wartenberg, professor of philosophy at Mount Holyoke — whose work is integral to the documentary — discussed his most recent book about using narratives of children’s picture books to introduce adults to the basic tenets of philosophical thinking.
