He Faced His Fears and Transformed History

Ken Burns’ new film Jackie Robinson — no other title needed — provides inspiration from this American legends’ challenges and accomplishments on and far beyond the playing field.  Premiering on WGBY Monday, April 11 & Tuesday, April 12, at 9pm, the Ken Burns’ film examines the life and times of the man who in 1947 lifted a nation and an entire race on his shoulders when he crossed baseball’s color line.

Heroes can motivate young and old, and in our own times of racial controversy and tension, you can find classroom resources designed to teach historical lessons that can impact our present and future.  Check out “Jackie Robinson” at PBS LearningMedia for resources about this man and related subjects.
