Never Too Many Champions of the Environment

Rachel Carson was a woman warrior, willing to face adversity as she helped to get the word out about an environmental crisis that would affect countless people, including children who would be born under a cloud of dangerous chemicals.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 8pm, WGBY broadcasts American Experience: Rachel Carson about this scientist whose groundbreaking writings revolutionized our relationship to the natural world.  Among resources for students, you’ll find a video clip and support materials for Silent Spring, which in 1962 became an instant bestseller that sparked dramatic changes in the way our government regulated pesticides.  Those resources are here at PBS LearningMedia.
