Please Join Public Media’s #ItsABeautifulDay Effort — Friday 5/5

Forty-eight years ago on May 1, Fred Rogers, beloved host of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, went to Washington to defend public television from budget cuts.  His heartfelt congressional testimony not only stopped then President Nixon’s proposal to cut funding but led to future increases.

To honor Fred Rogers’ legacy, ProtectMyPublicMedia.org invites all public media supporters to remind our neighbors that we support public media funding by joining their “It’s A Beautiful Day” effort this Friday, May 5:

  • Pick out a Fred Rogers-style sweater or cardigan from your closet—any color will do!
  • Take a photo of yourself in your sweater or cardigan.
  • Go to protectmypublicmedia.org/beautiful-day-upload/ to post your photo and share your story.
  • You also can post your photos on Protect My Public Media’s Facebook wall or Twitter  with the hashtag #ItsABeautifulDay.
