PBS Winter Holiday Resources for Classroom & Home

 

Tis’ the Season and there’s festive fun on PBS digital platforms for kids, parents and teachers.  PBS helps bring the holiday season into the classroom with a wide range of instructional resources such as this video, which is accompanied by teacher support materials at

PBS LearningMedia.  Curated collections like “All About the Holidays” help preK-12 students expand their awareness of global cultures and gain a deeper understanding of the origins of celebrations like Christmas and Hanukkah.  Among animated video shorts, lesson plans, interactives, the Holiday iBook H (Grades K-5), based on”All About the Holidays,” includes contextualized lesson plans and classroom strategies to amplify special events throughout the calendar year.  including  and
PBS KIDS also offers a variety of holiday-themed games on the free PBS KIDS Games App and pbskids.org.  Hands-on activities, including crafts and tips on creating new holiday traditions are also available on PBS PARENTS.

And shorter days and colder nights can offer a good reason to get cozy with family to enjoy PBS KIDS favorites. This month and running through year’s end, kids and families can celebrate with holiday-themed specials every weekend as part of Family Night on the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live stream. Holiday-themed episodes from PBS KIDS favorites will also air on WGBY HD and stream on pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS Video app throughout December.
