This weekend on Saturday, June 2nd, we at WGBY invite you to support the local community and join us at Asparagus Festival, an annual event held at the Hadley Town Commons on Route 9 in Hadley. From 10:00a.m. – 6:00p.m., the festival presents a Farmers and Makers market with a whole slew of farmers, food vendors, artists. For children, there will be games, story time, activities, and a performance from the award-winning musician Mister G, as well as appearances from the Cat in the Hat and Curious George until 3:00p.m. There will also be live music all day by some of the most popular bands from Signature Sounds, and attendees over 21 will be welcome to enjoy craft beer from breweries across Western Massachusetts.
WGBY’s Asparagus Festival promotes buying local foods and supporting local businesses and artists. PBS Learning Media provides a handful of useful resources that explain the benefits and importance of supporting local businesses, such as Key-Ingredients: Economic Efficiency and Buying Local: Think Garden
